Tourism Infrastructure of Pakistan
In Pakistan, things do not always go according to plan. Landslides might cause road closures for hours. Officials in sour moods might obstruct our travels. Religious holidays might cause delays. We know this is the case, and we are always ready with backup plans. We just ask that you come prepared knowing that things might not always go exactly as planned. If not, please be patient and understanding, and know we will be working to find a solution as quickly as possible.
Weather
Summers in Pakistan are extremely hot during May-September with temperatures rising above 40°C in the cities. Weather in the northern areas usually remains pleasant and can get cold during the night even in summers. Winter temperatures in the mountains can fall below 0°C, and vary between 10°C to 20°C in the cities.
Roads
Roads up in the north are long and mostly non-metaled, remote regions in the mountains are accessible through unpaved roads, and jeeps are required to reach such areas. Landslides often cause unexpected delays on mountainous terrains; be prepared for some bumpy rides, road blockades, and prolonged delays.
Connectivity
Mobile networks are decent in the cities but up north in the mountains, the mobile network coverage is next to non-existent. The wifi is also very slow if available at all.
Accommodation
Travel infrastructure in Pakistan is still developing, so the hotels and guest houses in the remote areas of the country have very basic facilities.
Food
The diversity of food in the country is amazing and will be a treat for your taste buds. But, if you have a sensitive stomach avoid eating uncooked street food and dairy products as they are usually quite unhygienic. Also, avoid drinking unfiltered water.
Toilets
Toilets in hotels and guesthouses are usually well-kept, but it is a huge challenge to find clean washrooms while traveling on long journeys. Squat toilets are common, hot running water is scarce, and toilet paper is not always available. It is advised to carry a hand sanitizer and toilet paper with you while traveling.
Electricity
Pakistan is an energy-stressed country, so power outages are frequent and backup generators are not always available, especially in northern areas. It is recommended to charge your electronics and power banks before you leave the urban cities.
